How to make Generative AI the SUPERCHARGER of Localization

There is a lot of fear out there in the language industry about Generative AI but what if we could SUPERCHARGE our localization offering with a creative AI Agent?

What if LSPs could offer a more holistic service that would save their international clients lots of time and money by automating the initial content diagnosis process and enabling them to access any market around the globe without the need to do extensive market research? Marketing across cultures is a common business challenge that cannot be solved simply by translating content from one language to another.

Unfortunately, conducting extensive market research to tailor a product for every target group worldwide can be time-consuming and cost prohibitive. What if the Localization industry could assist international businesses with the help of AI? What if all our clients had to do to market their products abroad is ask us to arrange for it?

While reading articles about AI integration in various industries such as medicine or finance, I came across Bloomberg's upcoming launch of BloombergGPT. This sparked an idea: How can we replicate some of these initiatives to enhance our localization services?

It got me thinking: perhaps we can train a Large Language Model (LLM) to conduct a thorough initial content diagnosis, leveraging as much information as possible. This could potentially create one of the first truly intelligent AI systems, freeing the Localization Industry from bottlenecks and unnecessary pressure.

GlobalGeniusAI - the concept is born

To explain this in simpler terms, I want to create an AI model called GlobalGeniusAI that can analyze content to ensure it's ready for an international audience. Think of it as a super smart computer that's specifically trained to do this job.

To make GlobalGeniusAI as intelligent as possible, we'll train it on hundreds of millions of different examples. We'll also add a feature called RLHF, (Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback) to enable the model to learn from feedback given by language experts who are very experienced in their field. This will help fine-tune the model even further, so it becomes an expert at analyzing content for localization purposes.

The GlobalGeniusAI solution is given access to the entire international marketing history of the company in a long-term context, along with real-time information gathered at the point of interaction. This information can include not only text, but also images, video, and audio.

To make the model even more versatile, we can create a "router" like HuggingGPT that can connect with different models to complete different tasks. For example, if the model needs to create web content, it will use a specific solution for that, or if it needs to adjust a podcast, it will use another. All of this will be seamless and behind the scenes for the client.

We can think of the initial GlobalGeniusAI as the first line of defense, and the subsequent models or layers as deeper knowledge specialists. The further out in the root system, the more specific the models and analysis can be. At the center of this system, there will be a dispatcher that communicates back and forth between the different models, similar to HuggingGPT.

The Language Service Provider (LSP) interface?could be even simpler than ChatGPT, as it might just be one option in an existing TMS digital dashboard. The complete cascading flow of events would be initiated by clicking the button, similar to how AutoGPT executes a desired goal/task with just a few parameters.

From the client's perspective, there might be a simple self-check conversation similar to ChatGPT. Once the model has enough information to proceed, it will provide the client with a way to move forward, such as a button or a prompt asking for approval to start.

It's important to note that the proposed system would not work without AI. The innate ability of an LLM like GPT4 to take unstructured data and make sense of it makes it possible to traverse different systems, and data structures, and communicate back and forth between existing systems without much friction.

While no one is currently building this system, the potential implications of a solution like this could be profound. To me, it seems very doable, and the incentives for creating it are clear.

The author of this proposal is not a PhD or researcher in the field of AI. I am simply a Localization Professional who enjoys connecting the dots and looking at the big picture. It would be great for someone with more knowledge to confirm whether this can or cannot be done, but from my perspective, it seems very feasible. What do you think?

Honestly I think the opportunities here are pretty limitless. The flexibility of AI paired with the adaptability of localization is a marriage made in heaven. Using AI to enhance service offerings and increase automation is huge - we'll never see a case where machines handle it all, but if we use them to streamline our days, imagine the throughput!

It’s an amazing idea. It would not only simplify the international go-to-market strategies for companies but also enable LSPs to add more value to their offering. It's a great idea ?? I can't say how feasible, as I can think of way too many 'obstacles'. The biggest question - where do we get the initial training data from, how do we evaluate it's accuracy and extensiveness and then update it to be relevant?
