??? Yesterday was Earth Day. Indeed, every day is Earth Day. We must always Think Global and Act Local.

• Are you a global citizen … or ready to become one?
• Is your organization?

??? Yet it is blatantly and painfully obvious that the world population of 8 billion is #uncivilized and very #tribalized. Things need to change if we are to have a humane future and a safe planet.

??? I have always regarded myself as a global citizen. I was born and raised in a (then) class-ridden and bigoted #England. I emigrated to #Canada, which thankfully does have some multicultural resemblance of a #Global #Village.

??? My late Canadian guru Marshall McLuhan spoke and wrote about the Global Village back in the 1960s. And he forecast that the world would indeed become more tribalized, before it finally would coalesce into a single global tribe as #technology finally brought us together.

??? But even the #Internet and the spread of #cellphones still has not yet completed that transition to a unified world and agenda. The world is too full of extremist views and resistance to change, as is evident in the daily news.

??? In reality, #nation #states are obsolete. They are like roosters crowing on their own dung heap. And yet some so-called "leaders" still seek to grab the real estate of others through invasion, and to control mindsets through dangerous forms of #espionage and #propaganda based on outdated belief systems of every kind.

??? We need a unified view of human purpose, with a Global Village mindset to build a planetary society where we all live peacefully and help each other to preserve this Planet for future generations by Thinking Globally and Acting Locally.

??? That was the theme of a major global Conference that I chaired in 1980. It was a time of optimism, even though there were some extremist leaders around the world. My late friend Rashmi Mayur of #India and myself then created the Global Futures Network, with the goal of trying to bring about global unification.

??? Sadly, we were far too optimistic, and we did not succeed. The time was not right. But I am now optimistic that #Quantum Computing and #AI will bring us to a #Metaverse Global Society that can unite us all in a #QAIMETA world of lasting peace and acceptance.

??? I hope you agree and will play your part. For sure, extremists must be confronted and replaced by unifiers with progressive ideas that benefit all 8 billion of us.
