Global trends in training and development
What are some of the most important current global trends in training and development?
This question has been front of mind for me as we prepare our training plans for the rest of this year and beyond. Here are the ones that seem to be getting the most airtime:
Digital Transformation: e-learning, virtual training and gamification are here to stay and, as we continue to work remotely and do business remotely, VR and AR will also move up into the mix.
Upskilling and Reskilling: Gone are the days of training people once for the next 5 years of their career - the business landscape and job profiles are changing too quickly for that. We need to invest in and deliver ongoing programs that help people gain new skills and knowledge.
Personalized Learning: Learning experiences that allow people to learn at their own pace and in a way that suits their learning style. This includes individual learning plans, coaching, and mentoring.
Microlearning: Short, focused learning modules that can be consumed in just a few minutes and on demand. These make it possible for people to learn in short bursts, making it easier to fit learning into their busy schedules.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Creating a more inclusive workplace brings people with diverse perspectives and backgrounds into the mix, which both benefits the business and helps create a more culturally aware and understanding work environment.
