Global Terrorism Database Dashboard
The GTD is a project by The National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START). It is led by the University of Maryland.
The database contains data for over 170,000 terrorist acts across the globe between 1970 - 2016. For each attack there are more than 100 variables describing the location, perpetrator, target, weapons, locations, and much more.
The database is available for download and analysis. It is also published on Kaggle for analysis. I created a simple dashboard to enable "reading" the data for exploration purposes.
This is how you can use the dashboard, and you can explore the data here:
I used Python as a language. The main libraries used were Plotly (for the charts), and Dash (also by Plotly) for creating the interactivity, and managing the page layout, and all the filtering customizations.
Feedback more than welcome!
I can extract insights from real-world text data using Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Python. I am also passionate Web developer using using open source technologies like, react, react-native and node.

6 年Just added a new page, whereby you can zoom on a province / state / city level for a selected country. You can also see the different groups responsible for attacks within a country. Check it out here: https://goo.gl/sxYD1y
