Game, set and match: Tennis Australia becomes first to join ball recycling programme
Tennis Australia has become the first national sporting organisation in the country to sign up to TreadLightly, an industry-led recycling programme.
Global Sustainable Sport (GSS) is launching three exciting initiatives, building on the successful?GSSport24 Summer Workshop Series ?and helping sports organisations and stakeholders on the next phase of their sustainability journey.?
The?GSS Network Alliance ,?GSS Education Programme ?andGSSport24 Winter Workshop Programme ?will accelerate momentum after the Summer Workshop Series engaged more than?350 participants, including over 100 not-for-profits,?from?61 nations.?
“Launching the GSS Network Alliance, GSS Education Programme and GSSport24 Winter Workshop Programme represents the next phase of helping to drive sustainability through sport,” GSS Founder and CEO Mike Laflin said. “As we look forward to these exciting initiatives, we express our sincere thanks to the speakers during our Summer Workshop Series who encouraged and inspired more organisations to embed sustainably at their core.”?
In June and July, seven free-to-attend workshops attracted representatives from every sports industry sector,?from global brands and international federations to grassroots organisations. More than 50 expert speakers shared their knowledge and experiences with a global audience and?recordings of all 19 workshop sessions?are available in the GSS website's?GSSport24 section .?
“Global problems need global solutions?and sport is well placed to act as a catalyst for change,” Laflin said. “Whether you are a?major brand, global sports organisation, team, league, club, venue, event, supplier, broadcaster, host city, government agency, athlete or fan,?we all have a role to play.
With this in mind, the?GSS Network Alliance ,?GSS Education Programme ?and?GSSport24 Winter Workshop Programme ?will provide outstanding opportunities to strengthen our growing global community.”
