European Tour group among 18 Sport Positive Awards winners
Golf’s European Tour group has won the transformation prize at this year’s Sport Positive Awards, which aims to recognise progress in sustainability efforts across the sports industry.
GSS's Winter Workshop series started yesterday (October 17), with Workshop 1 focusing on Partnerships. It featured Amy Hill , Co-Founder and Director of Podium, and Danielle Doza , Vice President of Sustainability and Environmental Services for Cleveland Cavaliers and the Rock Entertainment Group.
The weekly workshops will continue to run through to November 28, 2024, all based on Global Sustainable Sport's?7 Sustainable Pillars of Sport.
Next week's (October 24)?Workshop 2 – Participation?will be led by industry veteran?Chris Robb, CEO and Founder of Mass Participation World.?Session 1 of Workshop 2 will focus on the power of mass participation to create a new commercial model for the sport through the?7 Sustainable Pillars of sport. As the business model for mass participation events continues to evolve Chris will look at how thinking about sustainability in a broader sense, beyond just environmental, can create new opportunities for race directors and host cities.
Registration for the Winter Workshop Series?is now open and is available to?GSS Network Alliance?members.?

Global Sustainable Sport (GSS)?and?Mass Participation World?have announced a new strategic partnership.
The collaboration aims to address the critical issue of physical inactivity and obesity, which is a growing concern worldwide, by harnessing the power of mass participation events to engage and activate individuals across the globe. The World Health Organisation estimates that over one billion people are affected by obesity globally, and 1.4 billion people are classified as inactive.?
This partnership will focus on creating innovative strategies and initiatives to encourage governments, cities and sports organisations to develop strategies around mass participation to increase physical activity, especially among inactive populations and those who are unengaged with traditional sports.
Leveraging the global reach and expertise of both GSS and MPW, the collaboration will drive awareness and action towards healthier lifestyles, with a particular focus on sustainable and inclusive mass participation events.?
