A global player in the elevator market

A global player in the elevator market

Last year, it was estimated there were over 20 million elevators and escalators in operation around the world — a number that continues to increase. Since CP Automation acquired Magnetek Elevator’s UK business operations in 2020, we’ve grown our elevator support, launching a dedicated team to help us meet demand. Now, we’ve gone the extra mile, making our elevator specialist Brian Preston our Global Business Manager for Elevators.

?

Acquiring Magnetek Elevator UK opened many doors. We have continued to build relationships with leading drives and automation manufacturers to compliment and expand upon the Magnetek product range with alternative AC and DC drives, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), energy-efficient regeneration solutions and other devices to improve energy efficiency and reliability of geared and gearless elevator applications.

?

Another important development was recruiting Brian Preston as General Manager – Elevators. Brian already had an extensive career in the elevator industry, initially as drive product specialist with Omron and then serving as technical manager, and later general manager, of Magnetek UK. Over the recent years, his role involved selling and supporting Magnetek’s niche AC and DC drives — experience we were keen to retain.

?

Since joining the CP Automation team, Brian has played a key role in our ongoing growth. As well as managing the day-to-day running of the southern office, he has helped manage the company’s product lines, generate new business and provide technical support.

?

Adapting and growing

Elevator applications are changing. New advancements are revolutionising the way elevators operate and there is greater emphasis on energy efficiency and IIoT-driven predictive maintenance to ensure maximum uptime. There are also advances in UPS solutions (also known as Automatic Rescue Devices), which help keep elevators operating during a power outage. It’s safe to say that elevator technologies are evolving, meaning businesses and operators must adapt to these changes.

?

Looking ahead, making Brian our global business manager for elevators will be key as we try to encourage new interactions — and expand CPA’s global face.

?

We want to be at the forefront of elevator technology, which means embracing industry shifts and continuing to support innovation. Our commitment to energy-efficient solutions, ensuring uninterrupted elevator operation, and enhanced safety measures means we’re not just supplying the latest technologies but also tailored support that meets the evolving demands of our customers.

?

Strengthening the team further

We have also appointed Nick Price as Team Leader - Elevator, expanding his role to support the growing demands of our elevator operations. Nick’s extensive knowledge of elevator technologies, coupled with his customer-centric approach, makes him an invaluable asset in driving CPA’s mission to deliver exceptional solutions.

?

Nick’s expanded responsibilities include leading the support team and managing day-to-day technical operations. The change not only bolsters our ability to provide prompt and effective customer support but also allows Brian to dedicate more time to focusing on the company’s global business development and strategic growth initiatives.

?

Together, Brian, Nick, and the CPA team form a powerhouse that combines strategic vision with hands-on technical expertise. They are helping drive our presence in the global elevator market, delivering tailored solutions that prioritise energy efficiency, reliability, and safety — giving our clients unique and reliable solutions tailored to their needs.
