Embracing Uniqueness
How has living in multiple countries impacted your perspective on the world? Any challenges?
"Living in multiple countries impacted my understanding of the world in seeing every nation's uniqueness. Each of these uniqueness came with a lesson to learn. For instance, while in Africa, people understand African time. In the Western world, you understand how to use your time wisely. I faced academic challenges but overcame that by using all the school resources that would support me as well as giving my work to my mentors for feedback."
What advice would you give to someone who is considering living and working in a foreign country for the first time?
"Never forget where you are coming from. Be the real you. Trust in the LORD with all your heart; in the adjustment process, be patient with yourself. Also, before coming, find those you know living in the foreign land to educate on what you need to know and do once you arrive. They must be trustworthy, and you must listen to them with a discerning ear. You can also watch YouTube videos."
Unveiling Global Disparities
What are some of the biggest challenges you have faced while living and working in different countries, and how have you overcome them?
"Fear was a challenge, because when you’re not used to live in a country with different “manners of living”, you never lived that much abroad and the country you’re in speak your 3rd language, it’s pretty scary. How I overcome it: I like to challenge myself so if I’m afraid of something I will do just to prove myself there is no need to be scared! Also by being surrounded by good people that understand that you’re foreigner. And the most important by knowing God is on my side and I have nothing to worry about!!"
In your opinion, what are some of the key skills and qualities that are necessary for success in a globalised world?
"1) Being very open minded 2) Having the capacity to create links with other cultures 3) Gain knowledge about different parts of the world 4) Learn to speak different languages 5) Have a network of people from around the world who can help, so be open and keep your relation really good. 6) Not being a picky eater"
Bridging Perspectives
Have you ever experienced culture shock while living in a foreign country? If so, how did you cope with this experience?
"I took part in various activities in my school and interacted with many new people. That way, I understood their culture, values and perspectives. I also have a host family whom I've known and kept close contact with for the past 6 years."
How can individuals and organisations best navigate cultural differences and build effective cross-cultural relationships?
"Employers need to be more accepting of new perspectives and willing to make changes based on the perspectives of their global employees."

Embracing Change for Growth
How has living in multiple countries impacted your perspective on the world?
"Living in two countries has changed my perspective on life and the world in such a way that I now understand that getting too comfortable with where I am, or not leaving my comfort zone at all, doesn’t help me grow. It limits me and doesn’t help me explore and reach my full potential. But moving places has helped me adapt to changes that I may not be comfortable with now but will help build my future."
What advice would you give to someone who is considering living and working/studying in a foreign country for the first time?
"Have an open mind and be willing to learn. Having an open mind doesn’t mean that you have to change who you are or compromise your beliefs or principles, but just be open and expect anything, that way you will be ready to face whatever challenges you may encounter."
Flexibility in Perspectives
How has living in multiple countries impacted your perspective on the world? Any advice?
"Experiencing different cultures has helped me to be more flexible in my perspectives. Be open to making new friends. My advice would be to try not to be alone. Adapt (to the extent you can adapt to) to help with the initial culture shock. As they say...“When in Rome behave like Romans”"
