(Global Mobile Alert) safety solution
As automakers move into the digital age, new technologies and applications open the door for safety systems that can save lives today. Open-sourced software, vehicle to everything (V2X) connectivity and the proliferation of touchscreens offer expanded capabilities while potentially increasing driver distraction. Google announced customers Volvo, Renault, Nissan, and GM will include Android Automotive 2020 and 2022 models. This open-source platform is perfectly set up for safety applications such a Global Mobile Alert’s technology that combats driver distraction while introducing to the driver a heightened degree of situational awareness and collision avoidance features.
Global Mobile Alert is in position to take advantage of the advances in V2X technologies which will integrate wireless intersection status (SPAT) communications with in-vehicle systems like the world has never seen before. GMA’s solution is compatible with both DSRC and C-V2X solutions. Global Mobile Alert’s technology communicates wirelessly with traffic lights, school zones, and rail signaling systems, allowing mobile devices and vehicle navigation systems to alert drivers of changing conditions and potential hazards – before an accident occurs.
While touchscreens become more common for in-vehicle infotainment; both negative consumer sentiment and driver distraction incidents have increased. Global Mobile Alert (GMA) is seizing the opportunity to include (3) patents Safe System Generating Map points and a patent for a Cellular Telephone safety system.
In the performance of these characteristics within cars and other devices (such as mobile phone and in-car infotainment systems) should become wider. A new release from the In-Vehicle UX (IVX) organization and OEM should investigate car owners’ satisfaction with their onboard touchscreens.
One way to attract new customers is to adapt the GMA’s (Global Mobile Alert) safety solution in products like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Google maps, to provide a new, safe in-vehicle user experience. GMA offers leading-edge technology that delivers unparalleled insight into potential roadway hazards for a significantly safer and more aware driving experience.
Surveying consumers in the US, Western Europe, and China via web-survey, key report findings include: difficult text entry, slow response time and excessive fingerprint smudging are common complaints among car owners. However, GMA feels safety should come with an alert in the cockpit when the driver is on a hands-free voice-call.
“Cockpit organization and UI design can play important roles in mitigating some usage issues with in-car touchscreens.” added Demetrius Thompson, President, Global Mobile Alert, “Although hardware figures in many of the usual complaints car owners have about their screens, it is just not enough to stop someone from being distracted.” Thompson strongly feels that way because he was struck not once but twice by distracted drivers two separate accidents within a year.
Global Mobile Alert is available to be integrated into an infotainment operation system or as a Smartphone app from Google Play and the App Store and is ready in 58 countries, including the USA, Canada, India, The United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, Japan, China, and South Korea. GMA plans to cover 104 Countries by 2022.
