A new trend has emerged in the dating world, particularly among Generation Z and millennials. These young adults exchange voice notes before their first dates to get a sense of each other's personality, energy, and sense of humor. According to research by Hinge, conversations that included Voice Notes were 87% more likely to lead to a date.
Currently, digital platforms process vast amounts of data to predict compatibility, while AI assistants coach users on profile optimization and conversation starters. An interesting fact is that some companies even use DNA analysis to match partners based on genetic compatibility. Research suggests that having different immune system genes, called Human Leukocyte Antigens, can help relationships last longer. However, the challenge remains in balancing these scientific advancements with the intangible aspects of human connection and emotional intimacy.
In a recent poll by Answers.sg, 44% of respondents expressed openness to trying matchmaking services. This shift comes as 88% of participants in the 2024 Singles Dating Survey by Lunch Actually Paktor Group reported taking breaks from dating apps due to dissatisfaction, with 36% citing superficial interactions as a primary reason for abandoning dating apps.
