Hinge, a dating app, has recently introduced a new feature known as Hidden Words. This tool allows users to filter out profiles of potential matches who use certain words, phrases, or emojis they find irritating or unattractive, essentially muting specific language. The feature helps users deterred by clichéd expressions, poor grammar, and common phrases in dating profiles. It highlights the importance of 'typographical tone of voice' in online communication, where writing style can influence perceptions.
The Social Discovery Group, which runs Dating.com and more than 70 other online dating websites, has integrated a Virtual Reality (VR) feature to upgrade user experience. This feature enables users possessing compatible VR headsets to engage in 360° VR video chats, resulting in a more immersive interaction. The initiative is a response to the rising interest in utilizing VR for dating and the call for enhanced online communication. The goal is to combat feelings of loneliness and isolation by incorporating digital reality tools like video streaming and AI technologies.
