Catalent Global IT Leading E-Waste Recycling Program as Part of Company’s Earth Month Celebration
In honor of Catalent Unplugged, our second annual Earth Month celebration, our Global Infrastructure/IT team is teaming up with our Corporate Responsibility team to organize an e-waste recycling drive at various sites across the network.
Our employees are invited to responsibly dispose and recycle old personal electronics by bringing the items to a participating Catalent site. Items include laptops, tablets, cell phones, monitors, printers, etc.
Recycling electronics helps free up landfill space and protect the environment. When electronics are not disposed of properly, they end up in landfill where they can potentially release toxic chemicals including lead, mercury, cadmium, and chromium and contaminate our environment. Recycling ensures safe disposal of electronics and helps to recover some materials from devices to make new products.
John McGill, SVP and Chief Information Officer comments,
"Information technology has become pervasive in our society and when combined with the short life cycle of products as we ‘upgrade’ to the latest models, the sheer volume of discarded devices can have a negative impact on our environment if not discarded in a safe way. Our Earth Month commitment to safely destroy end of life technology not only contributes to reducing the environmental impact, but also helps educate our employees and their families of the importance of being environmentally friendly with the destruction of their personal technologies.”
