The Global Institute of Credit Professionals was launched at Fitch Ratings Credit Outlook

The Global Institute of Credit Professionals (GICP) was launched this week at Fitch Ratings’ popular Credit Outlook events in both Paris and London.

Speaking at Credit Outlook London to an audience of around 400 finance industry professionals, Andreas Karaiskos , Executive Director of the GICP, highlighted the lack of a stand-alone professional body and a universally recognised credit qualification as catalysts for establishing the Global Institute of Credit Professionals and launching the Global Credit Certificate.

Andreas Karaiskos said “There is a whole generation of individuals who have not experienced the elevated inflation and higher interest rate environment. While it is impossible to predict every possible scenario, people can prepare themselves to deal with changing market circumstances by developing the right skillset.”

The Global Institute of Credit Professionals aims to promote the industry’s highest standards, and become a go-to destination offering members access to resources that support lifelong learning and career development. In addressing the principles of credit analysis and their practical application, the Institute’s new accredited qualification, the Global Credit Certificate aims to prepare individuals to navigate the changing credit landscape.

At the London event delegates got a taste of the Global Credit Certificate with a short workshop based on the program: ‘ESG- Spotting Risks and Opportunities’ and led by Jo W. , a member of the GICP syllabus committee. The GICP will be running the workshop again as a webinar on 7th March (register for the event here).
