Innovation comes in many forms and at this year’s European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE), forward thinking business jets took centre stage for Bombardier.

The big news from the show was the introduction of the new Global 5500 and Global 6500 business jets. With next generation wings, new avionics features, new engines and a redesigned cabin featuring our patented Nuage seating, these aircraft deliver ultimate versatility with a unique combination of speed, range and field performance. The Global 5500 and Global 6500 aircraft are truly in a class of their own.

There were also a number of announcements about our flagship Global 7500 aircraft in the weeks leading up to its European debut in Geneva when its new name was officially unveiled. First, we announced an increase in the aircraft’s range to 7,700 NM. Then at the Milken Institute Global Conference, we launched the Nuage seat – the first re-thinking of the business jet seat in 30 years. Finally, we launched the nice Touch CMS with the Touch dial, a whole new way to interact with the Global 7500 aircraft cabin.

I recognize this sounds a bit like a marketing pitch, but I list these features because behind each one, there is a team working to advance the possibilities of business aviation. More range is possible due to new materials and better aerodynamics. A new seat is the result of years of design, engineering and prototyping. A new CMS adapts smart-home technology and consumer electronics to the rigor of an aircraft environment. Each of these is the culmination of innovative ideas, world-class engineering and a willingness to take a calculated risk to bring new products to market. Fully loaded with advanced features and its renowned smooth ride, the Global family has secured its place at the head of the pack for years to come.
