Aflateen+ in Togo : 4.617 Adolescents Empowered with Life Skills, Financial and Entrepreneurship Education
"The arrival of Aflatoun at my school contributed positively to changing the behaviour of young people. Now with savings, everyone tries to achieve something"
That is how a student from the high school "La Croissance" outside of Lomé, Togo, describes her experience of the Aflatoun programmes. The teachers are implementing Aflateen+ in her school, the curriculum aimed to transform the lives of young girls and boys through Social and Financial Education. The curriculum focuses on human rights and responsibilities, sexual and reproductive health rights, personal finances, careers, planning for the future, and other crucial competencies for youth to become agents of change for their future.
This curriculum has been implemented through the partnership with our local partner FESEN in Togo, and in other two countries through CAMIDE-GAP in Mali and ADEN in Niger, under the project supported by Dubai Cares .
The impact has been incredible and the learners shared what has changed for them before and after the programme. They noticed a positive change in behaviour and attitudes, some have set up their small businesses to save money and plan for the future, and some have developed a passion for gardening and farming.
