Global Health Initiatives expanding with a new project in Lesotho, Africa
Global Health Initiatives is excited to announce that we are expanding our international footprint with a new project in Lesotho, Africa!
The new GHI partnership will be with Maluti Adventist Hospital, a 140-bed district hospital in the small country of Lesotho. For those unfamiliar with it, Lesotho is a sovereign nation entirely landlocked by South Africa.?
Our GHI staff is intrigued by the partnership opportunity in Lesotho because of the people they will work with at Maluti Adventist Hospital. Maluti is one of two hospitals in Lesotho and has a smaller staff of 230 employees, including a general surgeon and dentist. When the GHI leadership team visited in February 2024, they were welcomed with warm smiles and thoughtful conversations about what this partnership would look like and the impact that it would have on the surrounding community.
"After more than a decade of working in Africa, we are excited to take on this new partnership in the beautiful country of Lesotho," shared Greg Hodgson, director of Global Health Initiatives. "Through collaborative initiatives with the staff at Maluti Adventist Hospital, I know that our medical teams will have ample opportunities to share their advanced skills as clinicians and our resources as a health system to better the quality of care provided to the people of Lesotho."

Our first mission trip to Lesotho will take place later this year. It will be comprised of a small group focused on identifying our strategic interest areas for GHI. The initial focus will be on our already established Helping Mothers and Babies Survive (HMBS) program, which has proven successful at three of our other GHI sites.
We are incredibly excited about this new venture. While the needs are great, our desire to serve and make a lasting impact is even greater.
