Global Fitness CEO Calls Out Flawed 'Study' on Intermittent Fasting

It’s the hot topic in the health and fitness industry this week, a study shared by the American Heart Association says intermittent fasting could quite literally kill you with a 91% chance of increased risk for cardiovascular disease. But we’re not buying it and neither should you. As the leading digital fitness and nutrition franchise quite literally with FAST in our name, founder and CEO of FASTer Way to Fat Loss Amanda Tress says this study is flawed.?
The so-called "study" is just a survey in reality. It was extremely limited, lacked critical scientific controls, and revealed an alarming ignorance about how intermittent fasting even works. It’s irresponsible of an organization to make such a glaring statement when we know correlation doesn't equal cause. In fact, this survey that only required people to log when they ate for two days, isn’t even enough to show correlation! And, it leaves us to wonder if the American Heart Association is just using this as part of the new push to eat Cheerios for dinner.?
Let's break down the glaring flaws:?
First, the study only observed a small sample size in a single U.S. location. Hardly a comprehensive or globally representative participant pool. And, it was truly a survey, not a study, asking people to log when not what they ate for two days.
That leads us to the second failure, the fact they did not factor in the quality of the participants' diets, which were likely the highly-processed, nutrient-devoid "food" that plagues modern America and the Standard American Diet (SAD). No wonder poor results occurred when haphazardly skipping meals full of inflammatory junk, which by the way is not fasting.??
Finally, and most egregiously, this study didn't actually implement any structured intermittent fasting program. The researchers seemed to have a fundamental misunderstanding of the strategic cyclical approach to fasting combined with nutrient-rich whole foods.
