PayPal PYUSD To Bring Speed and Reduced Costs to Cross-Border Payments with Xoom

Today PayPal announced it will be enabling disbursement partners to use PayPal USD (PYUSD) to settle cross-border money transfers made with Xoom . Cebuana Lhuillier and Yellow Card will be the first Xoom disbursement partners to use PYUSD to settle cross-border money transfers, allowing them to leverage the cost and speed advantages of blockchain technology.

These forthcoming integrations will help drive financial inclusion by providing more widespread access to digital financial solutions across Asia-Pacific and Africa. In addition, PayPal will be able to conduct cross-border settlement transactions without being restricted by traditional banking hours.

Kaspersky and AFRIPOL sign cybercrime-focused agreement

Cybersecurity and digital privacy company Kaspersky and AFRIPOL, the African Union’s dedicated police cooperation body, have signed a cooperation agreement focused on preventing and fighting cybercrime.

Covering a period of five years, the document formalises and facilitates cooperation between the company and the law enforcement agency in sharing threat intelligence data on the latest cybercriminal activities.

As Kaspersky points out, the landscape of cyberthreats in Africa has constantly been evolving, with the continent having been especially susceptible to industrial threats. In particular, it says, the region has the highest share of industrial control systems (ICS) computers on which malicious objects were blocked by Kaspersky solutions, compared to other regions.?

Google Pay integrates with Afterpay and Klarna

From next year, Klarna on Google Pay will give consumers in the US the option of interest-free instalments on purchases starting at $35, along with financing options.

Shoppers will be able to manage their purchases in the Klarna app — tracking deliveries, handling returns, and managing repayments—all in one place.

Google has struck a similar deal with Block-owned Afterpay, providing another option for consumers checking out online through Google Pay at select merchants.

OKX Partners DBS to Enable Free, Instant SGD Deposits and Withdrawals

Crypto exchange OKX has partnered with DBS to offer Singaporean customers instant and free deposits and withdrawals in Singapore dollars (SGD).

These improvements are the first of many part of a broader effort to enhance OKX’s platform, providing users with a more streamlined and efficient experience.

Customers can now deposit SGD into their OKX accounts using PayNow and withdraw funds via FAST, provided their bank is one of the 27 institutions participating in the service.

Mama Money launches WhatsApp bank card

In collaboration with Access Bank and Pick n Pay, the Mama Money Card aims to overcome the challenges faced by millions in the country where there are barriers to conventional banking services.

Mama Money Card customers can now easily manage their account via WhatsApp, buying airtime or electricity, depositing cash, checking account balances, and instantly freezing the card if it has been lost or stolen. Customers can also shop online or swipe in stores to buy goods, withdraw money from any ATM, and send money to over 70 countries worldwide using their card.
