OE Evolution
Since it is based on the same principles as total quality management (TQM), business excellence models are an extension of TQM. Business excellence can be viewed as a broad term that encompasses a wider range of issues, such as the social and environmental results of a firm, in addition to being the next step after TQM or a new quality understanding.
Organizational Excellence Definition
“It is a mindset that embraces certain principles and tools to create sustainable continual improvement within an organization. To put it more simple, OE is achieved when every member of an organization can sees the flow of value to the customer and actively try to improve both the value, as well as its delivery.”

Global Excellence Model (GEM)
Due to the necessity for the US industry to respond to the problems posed by the Japan industry, Baldrige was the first to enter the picture historically. Following suit and emphasizing the flaws in the current European operational models, EFQM did the same to safeguard the interests of the European economy. Others GEM emerged, almost EFQM and Baldrige derivatives, but aligned to the flaws of the sector from where these sprang. There is a need for a GEM that speaks of business excellence beyond the limitations of national boundaries in light of the widespread effects of globalization and the socialist economy's ideological dilution beyond recognition.
GEM Main Objectives
GEM Key Organization's Elements
Having a clear vision links people to organizational strategy to provide better results
The main barrier for the majority of companies is the lack of additional resources. Allocating resources to initiatives and projects with the highest priority is the true restriction.
Developing a Change Map: Re-allocating Resources to Fill Strategic Gaps and Achieve Long-Term Objectives
Empowering leaders with the means to resolve disputes while simultaneously "running the organization" and "changing it"
Leveraging front-line innovation to boost bottom-line success, customer satisfaction, and quality
some organizations mistake continuous improvement with strategy. Strategy is about doing things differently than competitors. Continuous improvement is about doing the same things as competitors – only?better!
