Once the Global pandemic is begin where mostly affected professionals are employed on board ship in the capacity of seaman are facing a lot of challenges where engagement and discharge of crew from vessels tending more towards restrictions due to Covid vaccations and strict regime of port health department of all governments and provide clearance caused by ongoing lock down but still even though the circumstances are standing at a similar situation(s) where mariners are experiencing visa restrictions, short travel notices, port closures, convenient port turn around.
I personally have the strong oponioee to look into the possibility of resolving these issues where a lot of stories where seaman experienced a lot of challenges, hardship, and sacrifices caused by the challenges where port had not allowed for a crew change which may result in the unnecessary stress and strain relationship between Captain and Crew but the position of the crewing manager is in ambiguity because they are relying on shipowners and ship managers instruction for reparations and travel arrangements’. ??
These difficulties faced by the maritime industry had been experienced by lack of swift crew changeover, lack of medical care for sick and injured crew. These concerns are still underway regardless of era of time in middest part of a various variant of viruses encounter by the human race with SOP instructions still though shore leaves for crew and inability to resupply crew and repatriate crews concerns are in stagnated by which trade unions who needs to look after seaman interests are providing legal obligations to alongside with association of international union, therefore, legislation should be introduced to foreseeable future which would be taken care of crew change over within the time limits of contract length within the grace period. If the crew stays longer on boardship owners suppose to reward the mariners them for their sacrifice of hardships whilst engage on duty.
I further like to address these problematic issues through the LinkedIn platform to the International Maritime Organisation , seafarers welfare organisations, ship operators, ship mangers and ship owners. Furthermore, through the channel of United nation agencies i.e. International Labour Organisation to look into the possibilities of overhauling Maritime Labour Conventions for such hurdles and challenges by legislation to bring the solutions in the favour of mariners without any silly arguments and rationales and in order to have prompt crew changes.
?
I hereby, urging port state control authorities too for putting pressure on their inspection questionnaire to oversee the duration of mariners are aligned with contract length to make sure the health and safety of crew are maintained because they are classified as “key workers” remove any barriers to their documentations and ease travel restrictions regardless of their nationality and country of origins so that they can reach home on time as per their contract length acromegaly and join their love ones.

Being Master Mariner, I understand the pain and strain encountered by seaman faced by the front-line workforce of the maritime industry in these global fights. The maritime industry can’t revolve the trade without presence of manning of vital crew who navigate, load, and unload the ship, consequently, your work is indispensable in these times of health crises. We are not alone in these circumstances that’s why crew members on board ship should follow Master advice in the teamwork with good faith and believe in leadership because staying stronger together is important rather than subdivision in officers and engineers and rating as work colleagues which breaks the chain of leadership split in teamwork follow instructions in clear manners.
