Aged Care Advocate and Family Carer
1 个月This is a fantastic recommendation and should absolutely be incorporated in the sector. As an informal carer of a loved one diagnosed with Alzheimer’s just over 8.5 years ago, we undertake a daily walk for a minimum of 30min (in an area with varied terrain). This has improved overall heath, has supported community interaction and has maintained mobility. We have studied the effects of exercise and its beneficial impact on mental health etc. The same applies to those with Alzheimer’s! Sadly those in facilities do not obtain the same treatment or benefit and exercise, in most instances is used as a means or reablement as opposed to maintaining physical health that influences mental health.
