Global challenge, a little step against war and climate change.

I believe this to be important, so please consider to read it completely!
Did you take the Ice-Bucket Challenge? If not, no worries, I have a serious one, not one just for fun.
If yes, you will like the idea anyhow:
Would you want to have a lever to make a small step against the global climate crisis and the war in Ukraine?
This challange is?meant serious and needs you to be a bit more brave. It is nothing to show off with, but an action to make this world a tiny little bit better. And every step counts, I would want to believe.
I am asking you to take a cold shower, not once, but always.
Here is why you should consider this crazy thought:
For me it all startet with here: I read a scientific study that stated, that showering with cold water for the last 30 seconds reduces the risk to get sick by virus infections (no, I am not telling you that you will get immune to Covid, I am not trying to raise alternative realities)
I tried it and it was tough, however,?I thought if I can stand 30 seconds, can I stand a whole shower? And after some really ugly showers that I took I must admit that it went very easy after maybe the fifth attempt. Today I am showering cold every time. I can only say that I do not want to return to warm showers, as I never felt that much energized after a shower, but this may only be valid for myself.
Why do I believe that this could be a very little but nevertheless important step to take:
A nice warm shower will need approx. 3-4kWh of energy. We will stay on the low site and calculate with 3kWh.
Let’s assume that every person in my country (Germany) takes a warm shower every second day, this would mean that a nice warm shower for all Germans uses 43.800.000.000kWh or 43 Million MWh per year. Call me stupid, but this equals the yearly energy production of 3 average nuclear power stations, just to put this into context.

Many germans use oil or gas to heat their water. As the German government is not willing to fully step back from the warmonger Putin and still support his regime with the purchase of oil, gas and coal we would have a democratic decission to weaken the russian economy by our action. We would suffer a little and potentially help the Ukraine with our behavior in order to stop Putin's war.
If you were willing to read until here, I am certain you will want to share this idea.
If something in my quick energy consumption calculation is wrong, tell me and I am certainly willing to correct the numbers.
But please consider to help to add one idea to make this world a better place.
Thank you from the very bottom of my heart and best regards
Jens
Or to make it a slogan:
Shower cold, warm the heart and keep it cool for life.
p.S: If you produce your energy yourself, than you are a step ahead of many of us. No doubt, this is even better and I am seriously looking into that option. In this case, feel free to enjoy your warm shower, but maybe you like the idea of the last 30 cold seconds, just to support your immune system ;-)

2 年We have turned our heating of now as well and as many others may have done already. It is no big thing. We are not suffering from this, temperature inside is still very acceptable. We rather wear a pullover more instead of using Putins gas. We want to try to change something with our minor activities that we can decide for. I do not publish this to get any applause or likes for it. But if you believe that you could make other people think about very small steps that could potentially make a big change, please share this comment and my article about the challenge that I mention there. If we just raise a word, it is a sign but if we change our behaviour it may become a lever. Thank you so much for your kind attention. Jens
