Hi LinkedIn fam! Welcome to my first LI newsletter. If you've been following my story since the beginning, I hope you've been inspired to embark on your own journey towards being fearless. If you're new to Be Fearless. This newsletter is going to be more business oriented than my personal website newsletter you can subscribe to here website (do it - you get a rad free e-book!)
To avoid any confusion, I'll answer the #1 question I'm asked: WTF do you do? That's a great question, considering the terms entrepreneur and influencer are so glamorized in society! Don't you feel like just about every other person you talk to is either of those?
I started as a blogger in 2011. I built the site out into a lifestyle platform for teens that took me through my late teens, working with brands from T-Mobile to British Airways to pay my bills. After hustling to make something of myself so that a) I didn't have to go into college debt b) didn't have to work for anyone else, I managed to catapult the website into a podcast called This is Life Unfiltered that landed me a show on Radio Disney called Fearless Everyday with Alexa Curtis. I picked up my life in Boston and moved to the wild wild West: Los Angeles. During my time at Disney, I had the idea to host college summits and coined the term Be Fearless Summit. Disney didn't love the idea of me pursuing my other ideas, so I parted ways with them when my contract ended and headed to Austin, Texas where I felt determined to pursue the summit program and focus less on being on-air. I loved my time at Disney and wouldn't give it up for anything in the world.
My biggest takeaway from working for a massive company like Disney was that I was so focused on doing everything in and outside of the Disney doors that I didn't put every minute of focus into the show like I could have. I thought I could host college summits while executive producing & staring in a show which led me to burnout and serious anxiety. My advice to aspiring founders is you don't have to fly at 100 MPH. Slow and steady wins the race.

Moving to Austin was the right move as the entertainment industry struggled during the pandemic. The first university who offered to pay Be Fearless Summit to host a summit (yay!) was an exciting milestone for the brand. As a 24-year-old founder, I felt more determined to scale the company yet equally confused on how to continue to scale on my own. Mentor Match launched as a part of Be Fearless in late 2021, and didn't "hit" like I thought it would. That was frustrating, but I became even more determined!
I'm excited to leap to the next phase with all of you and hope you decide to join what's happening at Be Fearless. Perhaps you can make joining our growing family your #FearlessFriday this week!
