Networking Around the World

This month, Acre hosted a series of events across our regions. From hosting our 16th and 17th ‘Leaders in Sustainability’ dinners in London and Amsterdam, to our Sustainable Drinks & Networking event in Singapore, and our first Natural Resources breakfast event in London, we were honoured to bring together over 100 senior leaders. This network, comprised of leaders in sustainability across a variety of sectors and organisations, was born out of a reality we often hear from our clients; sustainable change cannot happen in isolation.

We’re always proud to convene such an impactful network through our global events suite. If you are interested in attending one of our future events, please get in touch.

The EU's commitment to deforestation and ocean protection

Earlier this year, Georgina Sell, Principal Consultant, EMEA, shared a paper ‘The Green Recovery and Beyond: How exactly are industries working to combat climate change?’, inspired by Project Drawdown’s roadmap. Recently, Georgina spent time with Manuel Carmona Yebra, (Deputy Head of Global Issues and Innovation & Counsellor for Environment and Oceans at the Delegation of the European Union to the United States), to yield a greater understanding of the EU deforestation regulation and unpack the challenges surrounding plastic pollution.

COP16 required sharper focus on workforce green skills

Only 10 proposals negotiated at the?COP16 Biodiversity Summit?had a focus on green skills in the workforce. This is out of 420 proposals submitted by almost 60 countries at the summit, prompting IEMA to urge for green education, skills and training to be a greater priority. IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment) is the world’s largest membership body for professionals working in the environment and sustainability space. The organisation wrote to COP16 President Susana Muhamad and the UK Government’s Minister of State for Nature, Mary Creagh, to elevate the importance of green skills.
