MediaTek plans to collaborate with others to bring the price of FWA consumer premises equipment (CPE), like routers. MediaTek is known to partner with telecom operators 5G fixed broadband is seen as a crucial use case for fifth-generation mobile networks to be monetizing.

Anku Jain, the managing director of MediaTek India, emphasized the potential to provide broadband connectivity to rural areas missing fiber connectivity. According to a research report published by Astute Analytica , the Global 5G FWA CPE Market is expected to grow at a #CAGR of 31.5% during the projection period from 2023 to 2031.

Gopal Vittal, the CEO of Airtel, claims that the FWA's economics are still unattractive because of the high price of the necessary equipment.

According to MediaTek, the price of 5G smartphones is one of the obstacles that will be lowered as volume rises. The company claims to see a change in the Internet of Things (IoT), especially in Industry 4.0 use cases, with the deployment of 5G networks.

In India, 5G development is accelerating. According to an announcement by the Indian government, the installation of 5G networks would use spectrum in the 26 GHz and 3.3-3.6 GHz bands.

The three largest telecom companies in India that have acquired spectrum through the 5G auction are Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea. They are constructing their 5G networks.

The first operator in India to provide 5G services on a commercial basis was Reliance Jio. It has already established a 5G network in 13 cities. It's expected that Vodafone Idea and Airtel will roll out their 5G services in the upcoming months.

By 2025, the government wants to have 5G in 600 cities. Additionally, it plans to set up a 5G testbed at IIT Madras to help with the creation of indigenous 5G technology.
