Like many Indians, I am a huge cricket fan. The vibrant, pulsing energy is infectious and inspiring.?
Unlike many Indians, I find life lessons in every match I see.?
This World Cup has been quite special for me - especially, the match between Afghanistan and Australia yesterday.?
As Afghanistan rained down on the field, it seemed like Australia would end up on the losing side. It actually seemed obvious as Australia had 6 wickets in the 16th over, with only 86 runs. The target seemed far-fetched to achieve and victory seemed impossible.
Until Glenn Maxwell showed up.
And did he show up.?
Through unbelievable pain, Maxwell stood strong on the ground and hit one boundary after another. He fell down, got back up, and continued to play. His score of historic 200 runs - 21 fours and 10 sixes - got Australia the victory nobody believed was going to be theirs.?
We see many such instances in sports where players persist even in the face of insurmountable challenges and pain. It is quite easy to give up in the face of hardship, but there are those rare, special moments where any pain overrides your passion.?
It takes an unbelievable amount of dedication, willpower, and discipline to develop a level of passion that knows no bounds. And it all starts with a thought. When you think and believe in the “I can and I will” philosophy, the game changes. Nothing matters except your goal. It’s that one powerful thought that manifests your dreams into action.?

When Maxwell was all cramped up in pain, unable to move, but still hitting boundaries one after another, a commentator said, “All he has to do is stand and swing.”
He was just standing and swinging, but for it to be a “just”, his years of practice in the nets came through for him. He fought because he had a singular thought - he can and he will. And he did.
In the world of determination, there’s always a way to succeed. And Maxwell proved it with his excellent performance in the match against Afghanistan yesterday.?
One person who was an essential contributor to this historic success is Pat Cummins. A captain through and through, he stood as a strong support for Maxwell on the field. From urging him to go back and rest to supporting Maxwell’s strike with essential runs - he proved the importance of a reliable partner.
This is all we need to succeed. A strong determination and will to power through. And a person who supports and helps you to power through.
Be it relationships or business.?
I will always have yesterday’s moment as an inspiration to overcome any challenge with determination.
It’s a reminder that miracles do happen - not through a stroke of luck, but because of sheer skills and passion.
