Traditionally, we have been asked this question, may be right from our school days. The person answering it as ‘half filled’ would be considered to be ‘Optimistic’ person and the person answering other way round to be ‘Pessimistic’.
All these years I have asked this question to me many people. As long as, they were aware about the results, they have answered as ‘half filled’. But is that a real test of optimism? When I selected some of them, especially whom I know for a long time, I realized that in spite of answering ‘half filled’, they were not so optimistic in their routine life.
There were very few who answered that the glass is ‘half empty’. Being under the influence of the basic result, I ignored them as they were so called ‘pessimistic’. But one made me think a lot after long many years I met him and got to know what he is doing.
He had struggled a lot initially and had now became a successful businessman. When I tried to recollect about his answer, I could somehow remember the way he had said ‘half empty’. He was completely confident and was little cared about the result of his answer.
And that is the attitude, which made me think a lot and therefore thought to share with you as well…
The thought process was completely opposite to the traditional one. All those who answered that the glass is ‘half filled’ were contended with what they are getting. They were neither ambitious nor were ready to take extra efforts nor wanted to walk that extra mile. Whereas this person, who answered that the glass is ‘half empty’ was seeing lot of opportunities around him, worked hard and filled his half empty glass to full.
I think it is the time for us to test the old conventions and beliefs once again. Because we don't see the things as they are, but we see them as WE are...

9 年Nice. There is a saying " Happy people never grow in life". Possibly, those who thought the glass is full are 'happy people'.
