Glass half empty or half full? Draghi’s report and Europe’s tech future

Are you a person who sees the glass half empty or half full? ?? Well, we'd like to see it half full as we are optimistic, but we're also realistic: the Draghi report has shown that the road to making Europe #aDigitalPowerhouse is long and bumpy.

Stay with us, and you'll understand:

  • Why Draghi's report makes us see the glass half empty AND (possibly) half full??
  • The steps to position Europe as a global leader – straight from Brussels' top voices!??
  • The top priority we believe the Commission should tackle – any guesses? ??

This is the menu of this week's #WeeklyDEbrief! Ready?

?? SPOTLIGHT

?? Our concerns about this week's Draghi Report on the EU's competitiveness:

The glass is half empty ?? if we look at the report and the negative situation Europe finds itself in:

? The EU has passed four times more laws than the US since 2019, causing 30% of EU unicorns to leave.

? No EU company worth over €100 billion has been built from scratch in the last 50 years.

BUT, it would be half full if the solutions Mr. Draghi has put on the table were actually to be implemented:

? Increased and pan-European investment in technology.

? Greater focus on the benefits of AI...and simplified regulation.

? Better commercialisation of Europe's great research.

We still have hope!
