A glance at the sustainable future

We all need to protect our planet and do it for ourselves and future generations.

SAP is one company that has given great importance to sustainability, adopting the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) concept as a priority at all company levels. We have efficient management and a set of good practices that are connected to society's global challenges.

Especially in the context we live in today - pandemic, calamities, political tensions, inequality - we need to make society more and more aware of the pillars of the ESG.

For decades we have been a reference in digital transformation and implementing new technologies for different industry sectors. We have been looking at the market and creating solutions to have a sustainable and efficient operation. And to sensitize this look to the future, it is necessary to engage the teams in the cause. It is a pleasure to see that SAP Labs Latin America professionals are committed to their speech and practical attitudes in their lives.

Simple attitudes, such as eliminating plastic and adopting ceramic mugs, make a difference in the long run, awaken the thought to change habits, and contribute. And this causes a change in the way of looking at the world.

We installed a disposal machine for electronic equipment and cooking oil that generates a score for people. These positive credits accumulate and generate various prizes, such as a day-off. These are some examples of actions that are part of the routine and naturally become part of the culture.

Another differential is the sustainable design of our Labs headquarters, built with a focus on the sustainable management of water (70% of the resource used is recycled), electricity (100% renewable energy sources), and other characteristics that earned LEED Gold (Leadership in Energy seal and Environmental Design), a certification we got even during the construction phase. This standard will also be adopted in the new building, which is in the final stages of construction and will house 800+ professionals as of 2022.

We are constantly looking at the actions we need to take to be even more sustainable and help our customers, governments, and society apply sustainability concepts to generate a positive impact. In 2021, our well-known initiative called SAP Innoweeks tackled ESG challenges from six SAP customers in Latin America. Hundreds of volunteers from SAP Labs dedicated their extra time off work to bring efficiency to their businesses regarding ESG.

We work closely with stakeholders and organizations to understand the challenges, and come up with sustainable solutions to resolve those. It is a network that is growing stronger on a global scale to create strategies to support ESG. The environmental focus must be a priority, not only for SAP but for all companies and individuals who want to build a better future.?
