Thursday, February 9, 2023 – From second left to second right, senators Jean-Guy Dagenais, Marty Deacon, Victor Oh , Hon. Clément Gignac, ASC , Donna Dasko , Tony Dean , Hassan Yussuff, Pierre-Hugues Boisvenu and Margaret Dawn Anderson visit NORAD headquarters in Colorado Springs, U.S., on behalf of the Senate Committee on National Security, Defence and Veterans Affairs. The committee undertook a fact-finding mission as part of its study of Canada’s security and defence in the Arctic.

Monday, February 20, 2023 – Senator René Cormier provides opening remarks at the Summit on the International Recruitment of Bilingual Health Care Professionals in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. The summit brought together policy-makers, academics, practitioners, managers and regulators to focus on issues related to international recruitment, immigration and recognition of prior learning in the health care sector.

Tuesday, February 21, 2023 – As part of SENgage, Senator Wanda Thomas Bernard, left, visits Auburn Drive High School in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, to talk about her role in the Senate. She also spoke about the legacy of Lincoln Alexander, Canada’s first Black MP, and the importance of anti-Black racism in society.

They shared their experiences and proposed ideas on how to help Black communities thrive.

Amina GERBA, M.B.A., C.Q.???? and Marie-Fran?oise Mégie join Scouts Canada in celebrating Black History Month. The senators talked about combating anti-Black racism, their lived experiences and empowering Black youth in Canada. This event was organized by SENgage.

Saturday, February 25, 2023 – Senator Hon. Flordeliz (Gigi) Osler, MD FRCSC ICD.D welcomes delegates from Pinoys on Parliament, a national youth leadership conference for Filipina/o/x-Canadians, for their visit of the Senate of Canada Building in Ottawa, Ontario. The theme for this year’s conference was “Balikbayan”, meaning “come home” in Tagalog. Delegates explored the meaning of home and celebrated their heritage.

Monday, February 27, 2023 – Senator Rosa Galvez , second left, participates in a panel discussion, “Bridging the Gap: How to Have Meaningful Intergenerational Conversations,” for the GLOBExCHANGE Destination Net Zero event series in Toronto, Ontario.
