#GivingTuesday is Here

What is GivingTuesday?
GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement that unleashes the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world.
GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
Why is this December so important for nonprofits?
Around 33% of annual giving is done within December and, with giving down across the sector due to the uncertainty brought on by Covid, we really do not know what impact will be had on the sector in the months and years to come.
What does that mean for you?
-You’ll be getting a TON of Giving Tuesday e-mails and texts this year, ranging from colleges to the random food kitchen you volunteered at once 6 years ago.
-If you’re in the nonprofit field, polish up your résumé. Not saying that it’s a bad time to be in nonprofit… we just don’t know it’s a great one. Most organizations create their budget based on Q4 projections and… ?????♂?.
How can I financially support ReCity?
I’m glad you asked! As you (probably) know by now, ReCity Network (the nonprofit I work at) is in the middle of the (Re)Imagine end of year campaign. Our GivingTuesday goal is pretty simple though: We would like to secure 24 new recurring monthly donors, giving at any level.
You can easily donate by visiting ReCityNetwork.org/recurring-gift. Or, if you’d like to give gifts of stocks or gifts-in-kind, contact me at [email protected]. Remember that a few dollars from many people could go a long way, so give what you can where you can.
Thanks for helping nonprofits like mine continue affecting positive change in communities across our nation and world.
