Giving Up Is Not An Option
One chance is all one needs to get one foot through that door. I am among the fortuned in that I am the able to pinpoint the exact moment when my foot made it through the right door; and Now that I am past that threshold, I have made it my mission to hold this door open for others, hence the founding of the African connection (AC).
What is The African Connection?
AC is a tool to help African youth find mentorship and assistance while navigating the tempestuous unemployment field
About David Immanuel
I was born and raised in Windhoek, Namibia. My primary education began at Namutuni Primary School in Katutura. In grade 2, I found myself in a situation where I did not meet the requirements to pass and move on to the next grade. I had to repeat the whole school year. From that point on, I was studying with students a year younger than me. I did not let this embarrass or discourage me from doing my best and continuing my education.
I continued to study and attended my secondary school at Jan Jonker Afrikaner High School (JJA) in Katutura, where I completed my grade 10 in 2010. It was there that I discovered my passion for education and became aware of the power of it to better myself. My favorite teacher, Mr. Nchindo Mayumbelo, became an inspiration to me and he was one of the motivating factors behind my hunger to succeed and do more with my life. He believed in my abilities and encouraged me to find my purpose.
It is through his influence that I know the power of encouraging the youth
My most memorable moment at UWCSEA was when I helped co-found the Initiative for African Youth (IAY). We received a lot of support from our peers and professors, and I was able to leave a legacy for students after me. After completing my high school education, I was awarded a scholarship to study at Westminster College (MO) in the United States of America, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management with a concentration in Marketing. I have lived in the US since then.

Finding Purpose
In 2019, after 10 years of being away from home, I was able to return to my country where I witnessed firsthand the needs of the Namibian youth; their struggles reminded of my own. As a result, I decided to use the skills I have developed through my own education to further theirs. My initial hope was to share my skills in resume and cover letter writing
I decided to share my financial resources and found The AC to help young Namibian build their professional brands and prepare them for life after school, Even with a high unemployment rate in the face of a Global pandemic. It is my hope that you will join us as we work to make an impact and continue to grow as an organization.
Accomplishments
In just a few months since our founding, we have been able to help more than 150 young professionals with their resume and cover letter reviews. In addition, we plan to double this number in the upcoming weeks. The need is there, and with your help, we plan to expand our resources and meet this need.
