Giving Tuesday: Transforming Communities, Together.
Faith Johnson
Vice President, Global Human Resources, Talent Acquisition and Corporate Social Responsibility
Giving Tuesday celebrates the power of people and organizations to transform their communities. At TEKsystems, we take this day to reflect on the last year and the ways in which we—as individuals, as teams and as a company—invested in our communities and prioritized serving others. I’m both humbled and inspired at the way we as a team overcame challenges while seeking ways to enrich those around us. Again this year, we grew our giving initiatives in order to expand our reach. With the return of in-person gatherings and inventive virtual options, TEKsystems found more ways to foster our unwavering commitment to serving others.
From our key partnerships to growing initiatives and impactful projects led by individuals and teams globally, we’re celebrating our teams and how they created significant opportunities not only for our consultants, customers and colleagues but also for our communities.
Pat Tillman Foundation: Doubling Your Impact Campaign
For the sixth consecutive year, TEKsystems is pleased to sponsor the Pat Tillman Foundation’s Giving Tuesday “Double Your Impact” campaign, which will match the first $25,000 raised today by any donor. Throughout the year, TEKsystems supports Tillman Scholars, all of whom are military veterans and their spouses, making a difference in the fields of healthcare, business, public service, STEM, education and the humanities. New this year, however, is the exciting announcement that Meg Cortezi, our vice president of employee experience, has joined the board of directors for the Foundation. She looks forward to making an even greater impact through this role and helping empower the next generation of leaders.
Technovation: Welcoming New Global Services Partner
I’m thrilled to announce that we will soon be launching a new Global Services philanthropic partner, Technovation, a global tech education nonprofit that empowers girls to become leaders, creators and problem-solvers.?The Technovation Girls?program equips young women to become tech entrepreneurs and leaders. With the support of volunteer mentors, girls work in teams to code mobile apps that address real-world problems. TEKsystems Global Services will work with Technovation in Manila, India, Montreal and Dallas. We look forward to sharing more on this partnership with you soon.
Per Scholas: Expanding Partnership, Celebrating 1,000th Graduate, Board Appointments
In 2021, we continued to expand our partnership with Per Scholas, a national organization that has been advancing economic mobility for 25 years. Our workforce development partnership launched in Seattle, Phoenix and Pittsburgh this year, and we look forward to expanding our partnership. We already have thriving cohorts in Baltimore, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Phoenix
Pittsburgh and Seattle. We’re proud to announce that TEKsystems is about to connect our 1,000th Per Scholas graduate with a career opportunity.
This year, I was personally humbled to be asked to join Per Scholas as a National Board member. The work of Per Scholas—including our TEKsystems partnership—is helping to change the trajectory of the IT workforce through communities across the U.S., and I’m incredibly passionate about supporting that mission. Franklin Reed, our executive director of Inclusion and Diversity, also took an even more active role in Per Scholas through Diverse by Design, which is powered by Per Scholas and ITSMF and promotes solution-driven conversations about diversity, equity and inclusion within tech. He now serves as chair of the Advisory Board.
Per Scholas enables TEKsystems to invest in our communities while advancing our purpose, and we anticipate a long partnership with Per Scholas and many new, exciting opportunities on the horizon.
Contributing to Lasting Change and the Greater Good
We continued our work with our social justice community partners and supported efforts around the world to help those in need.
