As many of you know, since I’ve stopped working fulltime, I started volunteering with the Recovery Café of San Jose.? For a year I was a café companion, going to the café weekly to see and talk with members who might be homeless, have some type of addiction or other mental health issues.? I would share a cup of coffee, a meal and story after story.? It’s a real hands-on experience with an amazing group of people who just want to be treated with respect, be seen and have a safe place to have breakfast or lunch or join in an recovery circle.? After a year I joined the board and after six months I became the vice chairman.?
Working with the members and the board has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life.? But the members and I need your help on Giving Tuesday.? We are trying to raise $10,000 on giving Tuesday. ??We have a small budget but service almost 250 members every month.? I’m not great at asking people for money, but I’ve seen what a huge impact the Café has on its members.? It truly is a sanctuary.?
Your support at any level will make a big difference.
