This Giving Tuesday, Keep a Philadelphian Family Housed and Fed

The?Family Advocacy and Integrated Resources (FAIR) Project?is an innovative partnership that combines civil legal aid services and concrete needs assistance with maternal and child health home visiting programs. The goal is to provide families with comprehensive support that addresses their immediate needs and long-term well-being, ensuring children and parents thrive together.?

This unique approach brings together home visitors, legal professionals, and financial assistance to offer families the tools to overcome challenges and create a better future for their children. The FAIR Project recognizes that families do not exist in isolation.

They are shaped by a web of interrelated factors, from legal challenges and financial stress to housing stability and access to health care. By addressing these challenges in a coordinated and comprehensive way, the FAIR Project helps families meet both their immediate needs and long-term goals.?

Since the FAIR Project started in 2023, 587 Philadelphian families received Family Support Fund assistance and many participants received more than one grant.

In total, $1,133,391 has been distributed to these families. These funds supported a wide range of needs, including housing to prevent eviction, foreclosure, and homelessness. They also helped families secure essential household goods, essential childcare goods, and groceries/ basic necessities.

1,544 legal matters have been addressed. 84% of all family screenings identified an unmet social, legal, or financial need. Many participants have received legal assistance for more than one issue. The average number of legal matters per participant is 2.4.

The FAIR Family Support Fund program was made possible with the generous support of the William Penn Foundation. Moving forward, FAIR hopes to sustain and expand this fund in part through donations.
