On Thanksgiving, I'm providing 11 reasons I'm thankful for the 11 months that have passed this year.
- January - I'm thankful for new beginnings. Whether the start of a new year or a new friendship, I appreciate the opportunity to start again.
- February - I'm thankful for the love in all of its forms. I overheard two men telling each other they loved them, not in the romantic form (although there's nothing wrong with that). It was an "I love you, man, and I'm grateful to have you here, bro."?
- March - I'm thankful for the beauty of spring and SXSW! I'm thankful the pandemic is (mostly) over.?
- April - I'm thankful for Easter eggs, gratitude, and the power of stories in tradition. I hope this next year, I go on the adult egg hunt at Pioneer Farms. I saw it one year but missed it, then the pandemic hit. That looks like a good time. It's time for the outdoors.
- May is when it starts getting hotter than h-e- double hockey sticks. This is when I become most thankful for air conditioning.
- June - I'm thankful for waking up and excited to start the day.
- July - I'm thankful for the 4th of July - the cookouts, picnics (haven't done one of those for a while), and my sequined red, white and blue hat. Also, I'm grateful for clearance sales. Back in the day, it was when I shopped for clothes.
- August - I'm thankful that kids return to school, so there are fewer lines at the places I like to go. This year, I was grateful also to attend the Writer's Retreat and see the most exquisite beauty at Ghost Ranch.?
- September - I'm thankful that the weather cools down and becomes perfect.
- October - I'm thankful for Halloween, AFF, and attending the Dia De Los Muertos parade this year. I didn't know the celebration of death could be so beautiful.
- November - I'm thankful for #thecreekshow, the rain, Thanksgiving and Black Friday. I'm thankful for the time off and my employer providing a Starbucks gift card to help get Black Friday kick-started the right way...?
Most of all, I'm thankful for all the wonderful people, pets, and experiences I've gotten to experience so far, and I look forward to all that is yet to come.
