I received a call last week to come and participate in a school give-a-way at a local church. My first thought was, "Why are they having a give-a-way in January?" Then an angel said, "Do you know how many families are suffering during this pandemic? Do you realize that teachers and children are doing all they can to create a learning environment that resembles the once norm?" So of course, my answer to her was "I'll be there."
My close friend, Mrs. Rogers, now works for an organization that is known for giving back to the community. Today, January 30, 2021, her company donated backpacks with folders, pencils, rulers, pencil sharpeners, pencil pouches, crayons, hand sanitizers, and fanny packs all inside. I immediately asked Pastor Weston, the CEO of Noah's Ark., and my husband, to give me the number of after schoolers we presently had at the center. I was thankful that the organization was able to obtain a backpack for each child.
Giving Rainbows also teaches children to be thankful when others give to them as well; especially, when the materials are needed in the thousands of homes of parents, grandparents, and guardians trying to educate their child from home. Every little bit counts. I had the honor of dropping the bags off at the center. The students will be given the bags before leaving on Monday. We pray that it will bring a smile to the faces of the children we have grown to care about and love.
