Giving is Living

Giving is Living

Over the past few weeks I have been so inspired to see the theme of "Giving is Living" appearing in so many places. I heard it when I listened to this Super Soul flashback to Oprah’s conversation with Mitch Albom in 2017 last weekend, “The Dying Know the Secrets to a Good Life”. I then heard it when watching ‘Happy Holidays from Madagascar’ with my two boys (#mumlife) when King Julian took all of Santa’s presents for himself and then realised it was much more enjoyable when giving and sharing the joy.

I also asked my Aunty Julie some of her biggest life learnings over a cup of tea recently and one shared was ‘never take more than you give’.

As we approach the festive season, I thought it particularly timely to reflect on the power of giving and paying it forward to those less fortunate.

At our Tenfold team Christmas drinks last Friday, we reflected on an amazing year of growth and impact and each of us shared a personal and professional highlight (which seem to blend in to the new deeper work life integration ??). I reflected on my New Year’s evolution for 2021 (inspired by this awesome Rich Hirst blog) which was positive impact. I believe having had this intention and mantra for the year has helped me attract some amazing opportunities through the Tenfold community for giving which has warmed my soul.

Phew, it’s been a big year which I am grateful for having the opportunity in my Impact role at Tenfold to meet and be inspired by so many of our local community partners shown below.

At our last CEO Roundtable for 2022 we heard from Nawid Cina about the purposeful work of Mahboba’s Promise successfully evacuating 17 Afghans when the Taliban took over and asked everyone to reflect on what they could give forward as we transition into the New Year. If you'd like any inspiration you can check out our Tenfold 'Opportunities for Impact' Page - https://www.tenfoldaustralia.com/impact

I have found by giving to a cause larger than any one of us it helps connect us to something higher and helps promote gratitude for what we have. Last week I had the pleasure to hear Annabelle Williams share some amazing stories at an International Cycling Executives breakfast. One of her lessons shared was that when we make random acts of kindness it helps inspires others to do the same and set a challenge for us all to see who we can carry up the stairs.

As we transition into 2022, I have been reflecting on my next evolution and feel drawn to the word ‘rise’, in terms of rising as a leader, rising together with our Tenfold team and community and continued gratitude for rising each day.

As we wrap up a mammoth 2021, I’d love to hear any of your reflections and evolutions for 2022. Wishing everyone a well deserved break when you get to it! Over the upcoming holidays I think it's also a great time to recharge and give to ourselves too so we can be the best version of ourselves for others :)
