Giving Hope on Giving Tuesday

I am raising money to support the work of Ark of Freedom Alliance, the nonprofit I founded with the vision of preventing gender-based violence, exploitation and trafficking of homeless guys and trans girls battling addiction and mental health disorders. Every day in our community countless youth fall prey to sexual and physical abuse, addiction, suicide, murder, human trafficking, sexual assault and other violence as a result of homelessness, having been abandoned because of their sexuality or gender expression, or because of poverty, addiction, mental health disorders, criminal justice involvement and unemployment.

My organization works to prevent the brutality of the streets by engaging with high risk youth, ages 18 - 26, and connecting them with life saving resources, harm reduction techniques, mentoring, housing, jobs readiness and treatment needed to remove the vulnerabilities that can lead to victimization.

A survivor myself of many of the same vulnerabilities our young people are challenged with today, I am a true testimony of the power of the human spirit and the power of an engaged community. These youth are resilient and brave, but they need our support.
