Giving birth to a new Initiative
Almost 9 months ago we planted the seed for a new initiative – or should I say ‘baby’?!
9 months ago, as I was co-creating the Oxford Leadership Summit ‘Leading from within’ we had the first panel with the topic ‘What motherhood and leadership have in common’. On March 8th, UNs global women’s day, a group of executive moms from around the globe brainstormed and discussed the missing gap and came up with three core elements.
1.??????Receive: Know what you want
Instead of being driven from outer circumstances it’s important to know what you truly want and what makes you thrive. For that we designed and launched the first INNER COMPASS program in June with global moms from eg Microsoft, SAP, Amazon, Mondi Group and HAVAS. The next course is open for enrollment and scheduled for October as an Intensive and November as a month-long.

2.??????Inspire: Overcome limiting beliefs and old paradigms
There is not one answer of ‘how to combine motherhood and career’. So, we designed a living library showcasing multiple stories – real, brave and vulnerable. The MOMS WHO LEAD Summit will go live on September 23rd. I can’t say how excited and in the same time anxious I am.
3.??????Give: Bringing Food on the Table
Not all have the freedom to choose to work, but have to work to feed a family and sometimes also a whole village. By running a fundraiser supporting microloans in underprivileged areas of the world we are eager to give. In addition, we are working on an accelerator for moms led start-ups launching early 2022.

Of course, this is a topic very close to my heart – being a mom, working in business & leadership development and being a leader in my own capacity. And still I was shocked when I started this journey and explored how little it is addressed.
Looking through my LinkedIn contacts I was not able to say from most of my female connections if they are moms or not. How can that be? Are we still living in a time where it is a TABU to speak about being a mom to not kill our career?
Of course, I also don’t need to mention how little percentage of moms we have in leadership roles.
Following research, companies are missing out on a powerful key-feature and talent for future business success. And even more, society is missing out, as we are still not enough tackling in business the real problems of the globe.
In every leadership channel we are speaking about ‘servant leadership’, ‘empathic leadership’, ‘conscious leadership’ just to name a few – to change our working environments and the solutions we create into a more organic, sustainable and human centric approach. So, who knows this better than moms?!

Thanks Eve Simon for this super relevant initiative. I hope we can inspire some new ideas for the future of work and also learn some new methods and tools that will help organisations transition to being more inclusive places! Really happy and honoured to be a part of it.
