Giving Back with Robyn Grievson and Cancer Research UK
Talent Insight Group
Acquisition & Intelligence to help you hire the best people, whether they're looking or not
As part of the social mission here at Talent Insight Group, we’re asking our delivery team to nominate the charities that really matter to them. This week, it’s over to Senior Research Manager Robyn Grievson.
Which charity have you nominated?
I’ve chosen Cancer Research UK, their current mission is to save lives through research, influence and information on all types of cancer.?
What led you to choose this particular charity?
I have had several family members who have both survived and passed away through different types of cancer. Those who passed had later stages of cancer, and Cancer Research UK emphasise the need to research and accelerate progress in stage 3 and 4 cancers to optimise survival. My nana also had breast cancer, which was caught early due to the technological advancements at the time, all through research and understanding.?
How do Cancer Research UK make an impact in the community?
Cancer Research supports over 4000 scientists, doctors and nurses. The scientists conduct the research and trials; doctors provide the treatment, and nurses provide the care. Cancer Research UK does more than research cancer. They also use their funding to help provide support mentally, physically and emotionally to cancer patients and their families.?
What's one thing you wish people knew about this charity?
Cancer Research is one of the biggest cancer charities in the UK. However, that doesn't mean it needs less funding. It's the leading charity that has increased diagnostics, prevention and treatments, so continuous funding is still needed to continue accelerating treatments.?
How can people get involved with this charity and support its cause?
There are many ways you can get involved, from donating funds and volunteering to donating medical samples. You can find information about this on the Cancer Research website here.?
