Giving Back, One Story at a Time
At The Home Depot, we know that there are endless ways to make a difference in the lives of others. The Home Depot Foundation and Team Depot – our associate-led-volunteer force – make a difference through big and small projects. Whether it is helping to build a house for an injured veteran, fixing up local community gardens or raising money for organizations doing good, we empower our associates to take on all types of projects. While sometimes big efforts are needed, other times a seemingly small deed can go a long way in bringing light to someone’s day.
Each year, we get our online community involved, too. This year, for the 3rd Annual Great Giveback, we are hosting the Helping Hands contest. We want to hear your story about a time when someone helped you, or you offered a helping hand. For each entry we receive, we will donate $5 to Meals on Wheels America, up to $30,000. Meals on Wheels delivers meals to seniors living at home who cannot cook or are unable to get themselves to the grocery store. This helps seniors maintain as much independence as possible and also gives their family members peace of mind knowing they are taken care of.
This is a great example of how you can make a difference without taking too much time out of your busy schedule or donating money. Taking just five minutes out of your day can help Meals on Wheels continue to make a difference for months to come. Share your story today (it doesn’t matter how big or small, any good deed counts) and you’ll be entered to win one of hundreds of prizes.
