Giving Back + Giving More

As many non-profits seek end-of-year donations, I have one additional request -- if you're on a mission to design for good, we want to hear about it. We've donated tile to a number of non-profit projects and want to keep giving back. Whether it's a park, school, or support center in the face of a natural disaster, we're open to all types of causes in our neighborhood and beyond, including yours.

Around this time last year our CEO, Eric Edelson, outlined Fireclay's new 2019 giving initiatives. It was an ambitious plan that included:

• Pledge 1% Product: We aimed to provide 1% of the product we sell, to non-profits and groups in need. One of the recipients of this donation was Detroit Prep -- a free public charter school located in Pingtree Park, Detroit. Check out their incredible work (and see some beautiful tile) here.
• Adopt The Aromas School: We formalized our commitment to The Aromas School, the public elementary and middle school nearest to our factory, via both financial and volunteer support.
• 1% Brick Sales to National Park Conversation Association (NPCA): We donated 1% of all shipped brick sales and provide a financial contribution to the NPCA. Our new brick line was inspired by the National Parks, and it remains an honor to support the NPCA and the amazing work they do to protect our parks.

These new Fireclay Gives initiatives enhanced our already strong giving platform which was comprised of:

• Pledge 1% Equity: We have pledged 1% of Fireclay's ownership to non-profits, so that in the event of a financial outcome for our company, a portion will be allocated back into our community.
• Give, You Get: Via our Give, You Get initiative, reallocating over $108,000 away from overpriced credit card merchant fees into a giving account to support the Khai Lam Fireclay Tile Family Fund and our clients.
• Paid Volunteer Day: Each employee receives one additional day of PTO each year for volunteering. 

I remain deeply grateful that I work with a team that cares about the impact of our product and investing back into our communities.
