Giving Back with Jennifer Jones

As part of Talent Insight Group's social mission , we’re asking our delivery team to nominate the charities that really matter to them. This week, it’s over to Senior Research Manager Jen Jones.

Which charity have you nominated?

My chosen charity is Search Newcastle – A charity that supports older people in the Newcastle area. Their mission is to support older people in the community through services, including groups and activities, as well as support to live independently, enabling them to stay healthy and actively involved in their community.

What led you to choose this particular charity?

This is an interesting one – I’m very lucky to still have both grandparents on my mam’s side who live independently in their late 80’s/early 90’s. I see how important this is to them, and I also still see how vibrant they are and still like to enjoy their time, but I am aware that this can be harder for some, particularly for people who live alone or do not have family. I also just think it’s important that the elderly aren’t forgotten about – I can confirm they are very interesting people!

How do they make an impact in the community?

Search gives free advice for elderly people on things like benefits, offering support with completing applications, and providing independent living home support services. It provides activities and groups, including lunch clubs, exercise groups, and shopping clubs, with a minibus service. They also run multilingual groups to support South Asian and Chinese communities in the local area, which is really important since they are based in the West End and are inclusive in those communities, too.

What's one thing you wish people knew about this charity?

That over 500 people’s circumstances were improved in 2023 through advice and support given through this charity.

Volunteers , donations and help with fundraising are all very welcome!
