Give yourself permission to play....

The other week I had the honor to attend Jodi House’s Fall Luncheon (if you don't know their work, check them out - what they do is life changing). Listening to the rebounds made by those with brain injuries can really make you stop & appreciate your life. We are all so blessed - but do we really act like it? When things pop up, as they inevitably will, how do we react? One of the speakers shared three improv tools with us and I thought they were so appropriate for all of life’s challenges, so here they are: 1) Say, “YES, and....” Accept what is in front of you then add to it. Acknowledge, pivot, and move on.....change is constant, right? 2) Make a choice & then make it the right choice. I mean - just go for it! If it calls to you, and if feels right, then make it right. Put your best foot forward, but just put a foot forward no matter what. 3) Decide to make things more interesting. Feeling ho-hum? Change it! Add some pizzaz, be yourself only bolder. No one talks about the basic, they talk about the bold. You’ve got to give yourself permission to play. In this month of gratitude be grateful for the choices you can make, the path you can always change, and marvel that you have created all that is around you. Don’t be afraid to show some love, take a chance, and smile just a bit brighter. I am grateful for you. For if you are reading this, then you’ve shared your life with me, and I am better for it. As we round out the end of the year, and head through the zaniness of the holiday season, I want you to remember that the chance you took to reach out to me has made a difference for all of us. The lessons I’ve learned from our interactions allows me to better serve everyone else, and reminds me to keep going. Cheers to you my friend - now go continue on in your best life, and thanks for sharing it with the rest of us!
