Give Yourself the Gift of Self-Care this Holiday


My colleague and I visited a client to deliver holiday gifts last week. Our contact at the company, the HR Manager, was busy arranging the company's holiday party. It was easy to see that she was frazzled! I can only imagine that she is planning for the holidays at home as well! What should be a joyous time can be stressful and exasperating for some.

Here are a few tips to help you take care of yourself:

  • Do not over-commit. Delegate to others when you can.
  • Accept imperfection. Make life just a little easier on yourself as opposed to going to the ends of the earth for perfection. (I found myself saying "Oh well...." a few times this holiday season).
  • Hydrate well and sleep a bit more than usual. Running around in a stressful environment takes its toll on your physical health.
  • Enjoy a bit of quiet time throughout the day without screens. Just sit and be!
  • Remember that unkind people are suffering. Don't take things personally.
