Crafting the right Buyer Persona

No alt text provided for this image

Today we talk about creating a buyer persona for your brand. I know between running paid ads, managing inventory and funding, who has the time for this

But trust me, this short exercise is worth your time in gold. Let’s get started

WTF is a buyer persona?

It is a detailed description of your ideal client. It a fictional character you create who represents your target audience. Ideally a D2C brand, can have 3-4 customer persona.

Why do i need this?

Once you have a clear picture of your target audience, you can use this info to create marketing campaigns , launch new products and basically every decision you make

Ok, how do i get started?

This is how you should go about it

Step 1: Research

If you’re just getting started, this is will involve deep diving into the existing marketplace. Conduct research on what your competition is up to. Go through the reviews, comments and any info you can find . You can ask yourself questions like, Who will be excited about this product, who will happily pay for it

If you’re running a brand, this is involve deep diving in your own data. Pull up the top 20% of your customers and find 2-3 common attributes.

These could be age, demography, gender interests etc.

Step 2: Pain Points & Needs

Now that you have a basic idea of who your customer is, let’s deep dive in their pain points and needs. Get to know your ideal customer as well as you can. Exactly know what drives them, motivates them and what are their pain points that you can address.

Step 3: Create a persona

While creating a buyer persona, you would need details like

  1. Age
  2. Occupation
  3. Interests
  4. Education
  5. Where they live
  6. Where they spend most of their time, online and offline
  7. What is most important to them in this product

Step 4: Start using it

Ok, so now it’s time to put it to use. Whenever you create your marketing assets next, ask yourself what will this persona think of it, is it aligned with them

Use the same exercise while launching new products and variations of your existing product.
