Give your LinkedIn a makeover today!
LinkedIn has been in existence for 16 years now. Did you know that? Neither did I, till I actually decided to dig deeper. It's been around longer than Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Tinder or Bumble. But has started gaining importance only over a couple of years. Up until last year, even I had little idea about this particular social media platform. Working in the talent acquisition field for over a year has definitely changed the way I look at it now. I spend about 6 hours a day on LinkedIn, expanding my network, connecting/reaching out to people with relevant opportunities and I strongly emphasize on working towards building a LinkedIn profile, networking and making meaningful relationships.
Why LinkedIn?
- In simple words, LinkedIn is the Facebook for professionals. It is same or a better(simplified) version of your CV.
- It is a great tool to showcase your work experience, abilities, interests, your work achievements and recommendations from your work colleagues and clients.
- Recruiters and hiring managers majorly use LinkedIn to search for candidates. A well-defined bio and work experience is surely going to make your profile show up during relevant searches, increasing your chances to land up with a job.
- It is one of the best platforms to know and do your research about the companies, their culture, achievements, employees, interviewers, recruiters and job opportunities/ applications.
- For most of the recruiters/hiring managers, the first step is to look up the candidate on LinkedIn and the chances of you being offered an opportunity is guaranteed with a well-crafted profile.
- Staying on top of industry news and trends is easy through LinkedIn. I often find really interesting articles that make me think about something I never would have considered before.
No matter what you do, there is a way LinkedIn can help you get better and reach out to like-minded professionals, seek better opportunities, make business connections, find potential partners and freelance work. One could also use it as a search engine(just like google). Upload a profile picture, write a brief summary that talks about your skills and screams your personality, make an attempt at growing your network.
Go put in some efforts to make your LinkedIn profile better today!
PS: It's definitely helped me find the best of talent, opportunities, connections and I am confident you can get there too, if you work towards it.
