Growing up as a 5th generation Atlantan, Jesslyn's love for her hometown shines bright.? In fact, it’s where BIOLYTE got its start.? When she was in high school, her mother was faced with a breast cancer diagnosis and no matter what the family tried, they could not find a way to help her stay hydrated during those grueling treatments.?

After that, her father (affectionately called “Dr. Dad”), a well-respected anesthesiologist and pain management specialist, worked to create a medical-grade hydration solution that’s not just a product—it’s a lifeline!? The goal was IV level hydration that could be consumed by anyone at any time.

Jesslyn didn’t just dip her toes in; she dove headfirst into the business! Using her grassroots approach, she spread the word about BIOLYTE through her high school connections.? Of course, this is a lesson I’ve heard over and over and is a similar message to what I share, start small and build from there.? Thanks for the reminder, Jesslyn!?

Her big break came when she packed up a cooler and rolled (literally) into Kroger.? A place where she managed to impress a hard-nosed buyer with a diagram of the evolution of man which she compared to the evolution of hydration (SO SMART!).? That, along with her infectious passion, landed BIOLYTE on store shelves across the Southeast.? BIOLYTE was finally poised to make a splash.

In this episode, Jesslyn emphasizes an important lesson: “You don’t have to be perfect.” She breaks it down like this: mistakes come in three versions. First, there are the minor ones—think of them as trying on a new hat. You might look fabulous or just downright silly, but either way, you move on! Then there are the not-so-fun ones, like a bad haircut that leaves you wondering who approved of that style? OUCH! And finally, you’ve got the big doozies—those tough lessons that require a whole lot of sweat and a bit of digging to get out of.
