Give thanks to the Lord for He is good!
Psalm 136:1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,?for his steadfast love endures forever.
When we run out of something it can be disappointing or even devastating. This last weekend I went camping on a remote flowage with my brother and some friends. It was a huge flowage with a lot of finger inlets and beautiful scenery. Everyone was on boats with motors except me. I brought a fishing kayak. On Saturday we all set out in different directions. As the day waned down, and I was enjoyed the peace I decided to start heading back. After paddling for a lot longer than I remembered it taking to get out, I realized I was lost. All the islands, shoreline, and trees started to look alike. I thought I saw my brother's boat awhile ago, but it was far away and couldn't be sure. My patience was running out... my energy was running out... my peace ran out... My prayers never ceased however! I called my brother and he was at the site and we concluded it was him I saw earlier. He asked if I caught any fish?!? 'Not quite as important as getting back right now! But yes...' So, I turned around and started in the direction I saw him going. I was getting tired from the paddling. I still didn't know where I exactly was or if I was heading to the right island or shoreline. I decided to open up my 'maps' app on my phone. A campsite was highlighted and focused on, 'site #7' was pinpointed and showed I only had about a mile to go. I was on course to what I think was our site! As I rounded a small island I saw our site and was relieved. Now... the remarkable thing was... I never set the destination when we first went there (I was on someone else's boat to get out there)... When I opened up the app later it was not focused on my site, but showed ALL the sites in the area, not just the one I was needing to go to. I ended up going about 3 miles out of my way... My patience may have been running low, but God's love endures forever and NEVER runs out. Give thanks to the Lord for He is good and have a blessed day!
